SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It’s a three and a half million dollar fundraising drive aimed at emergency housing for families. The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House already houses up to 100 individuals in its downtown Sioux Falls center. Now, through a partnership with Interlakes Community Action, it will be able to shelter up to ten families per night. Bishop Dudley Executive Director Madeleine Shields says that’s made possible by the Interlakes’ purchase of the former Children’s Inn center west of downtown.
Shields says the Bishop Dudley House has already raised about half of the 3 1/2-million dollars needed for repairs, remodeling and programming at the new center.
That facility was purchased by Interlakes Community Action, which need office space at the location. The living quarters will provide more space for the Bishop Dudley efforts to house families in crisis.
